What is DDOS? An attack DDOS aims at making infrastructure or an unavailable service by overloading servers or appropriating the resources to use them up. DDOS attack corresponds to a multitude of requests which are sent at the same time from several Internet points, what makes services unstable even unavailable. This attack to OVH was carried out from 150,000 cameras connected in a distance, on the purpose of stealing data or getting information. OVH didn’t want to communicate on this subject and informed customers only by tweets.
OVH is not the only subject to attacks, DYN company and particularly DNS of this company is, too. DNS is a kind "of Internet points", it means that when an Internet user tries to search on the Internet “myjalis.fr ", for example, DNS is going to direct him to the site. DYN underwent a named attack "denial of service", which consists of saturating a connection service. This attack was not intended to attack sites accommodated by DYN but DYN infrastructure. We can say that it was an attack to the source! Furthermore, this attack affected famous social and other networks like Twitter, the famous video site Netflix or even the web site New York Times! From 2014 to 2015, we were able to see the increase of 85 % of attacks by service denial.
