Qwant,

03/17/2014

You know all about Google ... You are not unknown either, certainly, Yahoo or Bing ... But does Qwant evoke you anything? This search engine made in France could be well developed in public.

Qwant, launched in February, 2013, has recently blown the first candle. It was thought and launched by Jean-Manuel Rozan and Eric Leandri, who are based on Pertimm company, originally from the internal search engines in Auchan and Meetic mark sites.

Its main quality remains in a universal search, organized in five columns of results:

  •           Web
  •           News
  •           Qnowledge Graph (comparable to Google’s Knowledge Graph, based on Wikipedia information at the moment)
  •           Social
  •           Shopping

The user can embrace in a several types of information and reach more easily the researched contents. The interface aims to be the most fluid and the most ergonomic possible. Tabs allow the search of all the media (photos and videos) for a given request, or all the sources connected to one person.

The users can contribute to the improvement of Qwant relevance, by offering booklets (en proposant des carnets ): fact sheets dedicated to given subjects.

If this new engine still has difficulty in gaining market shares in front of omnipresent giant of Mountain View, the numerous cards should help to seduce and develop the users’ loyalty.
