Google Dashboard

Google Dashboard (a dashboard on your habits)

11/09/2009

With Dashboard (dashboard) launched since Thursday, November 5th, 2009, Google shows you the information which it collects and "analyze", such as your list Google Docs, e-mails, contacts, etc... It is a supposed page to allow hundreds of million Internet users to reach more transparency and see which tracks the search engine has collected during the passage on its services.

"Simple and useful, Dashboard records the available data for each product and allows the control of the personal parameters", specified the official blog of Google... Even if it confirms simply how and which Google information records for us, nothing is explained in the way they are used.

Furthermore, the initiative of the American group meets partially the charges of practices considered prejudicial in the private life, mainly in Europe. Brussels recommended that the connection logs - the statistics of the keywords for the requests made on Google, dated and located-, which constitute the most essential data collected by the company, have been  returned for six months. In autumn, 2008, Google made a commitment to preserve for only 9 months, not 18 months as previously.

Let specify that for Dashboard, the personal information is recorded only during the use of a Google service, it means that you "are connected", it is thus the beginning of transparency but makes sure that more "general" statistics are further recorded and certainly analyzed and widely exploited by the search engine for the advertisement company.
