On September 14th, American giant of the e-commerce launched the latest Amazon music unlimited, its subscription service of musical streaming in France.
The music for all
Is it unlimited music? It is true that the name is a little deceitful. Nevertheless, it is the same with 50 million titles offered by Amazon unlimited music. It is very simple: it is the most supplied catalogue at the moment. In fact, Deezer offered only 43 millions, 40 million Apple Music and 30 million Spotify. Pop, rock, electro music, folk song, world music, blues, classic, contemporary music, movie soundtrack, and the same white noise, natural sounds (rain, wind), conferences, and other ASMR ("Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response" or "automatic response of sensory meridians" which indicates these whispers and these pleasant sounds to help you relax): there are all the tastes! It is really necessary to detail the discography of a smaller or larger dark group to test catalogue’s limits. A good point for Jeff Bezos's firm, especially for those who have been able to enjoy the "joys” of its video streaming service, Amazon Prime Video, a little meager. But it is not the only one.
An accessible interface
In fact, Amazon unlimited music is used via the simple and clear interface of Amazon Music. Like other services of the same genre, you type your request in a search engine which gives you results in the categories "artists", "titles", and "album". "Stations" (or "radios") are also offered to you. It is about compilations of titles relating to your request. You can also constitute your own playlist or play those with which the service provides you. They are classified by musical genre or atmosphere. So, in the category "intensity and power" (sic) you can opt for the playlist "metal body-building". Unless you are more directed "energy and motivation" in which case the application recommended to you is "Country music for dance". In case of tiredness, "peace and relaxation" is made for you with the compilation "to your warm beds”. A whole program.
Competitive rates
Moreover, Amazon unlimited music obtains interesting rates. With 9.99 euros a month, it is on the average. It goes farther if you are an Amazon Prime member with an annual subscription reduced to 99 euros (or with two offered months) without counting 30 days for free trial. A family offer allows six accounts to benefit from the service with 14.99 euros a month. At the same rate (or 149 euros) and in the case of being Amazon Prime, you have the possibility of benefiting from recommendations and playlists personalized. As often, it's a pity that French users do not benefit from the same rates as their overseas popping friends. With an offer of 7.99 dollars per month (and only 3.99 dollars if we use the Amazon Echo connected speaker unavailable in France), the choice can be very quick.
A meteoric rise
It explains the lightning success of the service in the United States and around the world. Launched in October, 2016, it became the third world of the streaming paying after Spotify and Apple but before Deezer, Tidal, Pandora and Google Music. With 16 million subscribers, Amazon is no longer very far from the Apple mark and its 20 million subscribers. In term of the service use, it is even more advanced than Apple. Hardly launched in France (at the same time as in Spain and Italy), Amazon Unlimited Music margin is widely contrary to these competitors.
For that matter, we can wonder if you should not talk about unlimited success.
