As a Web designer and junior artistic manager at Jalis, Sonia P tells us about her work and her job with passion. She shares with us more about the graphic designer's job in agence web, an occupation involved in creation, reflection and freedom.
How long have you worked at Jalis and what is your function in Web company?
I came back to Jalis in 2006 with an apprenticeship contract of two years as a web designer. Then I accepted my CDI(PERMANENT CONTRACT) with Jalis as a web designer. And in 2011, I moved on a post of junior artistic manager. We have two D.A. junior at Jalis.
Before joining Jalis, what was your job?
Very early, I was lucky enough to know what I wanted to make and I thus began my job with a BAC S.T.I. Decorative arts. It allowed me to highlight the jobs involving the Art field.
I decided to continue the graphics field by making a BTS Visual Communication multimedia option, alternatively in an advertising company to learn printing graphic designer's job and web designer. Finally, I pursued the Diploma of Graphic Designer at the International school of Design to perfect and further my ideas. I spent this latest diploma in alternation with Jalis.
The alternation allowed me to acquire some experience and put current theory into practice.
Could you describe your current post in a few words ?
We could say that I divide my time into two parts. The first part is mainly the graphic creation of website. The second part is bound to my post of artistic manager where I intervene in the company communication and I am in charge of the external communication of Jalis (business cards, pouches, etc.).
In some cases, I intervene to recommend customers and offer more exceptional sites with a particular graphic work. I also attempt to keep a team spirit within the graphic designers to give a creative and fresh momentum in our realizations. It can happen to me to manage a part of team in certain projects.
What do you prefer in your work?
Imagine atmosphere, different universes which stick to the customer. And especially, work profoundly in some sites to further my ideas and reflection.
Do you have some advice to give to those who begin in the Web sector?
I would recommend them to be curious about everything, watch a lot of graphic in various domains (design, graphics, cooking, exhibition, travelling) because it always inspires closely or remotely. Web is a very interesting domain because it evolves much and fast. If we want to follow the movement, it is necessary to be CURIOUS, FREE and FASCINATED. They are the most important values for me.
To finish, I would like to say that it is necessary to believe in dreams!
