Junior Freitas's fine words, Web designer at Jalis

04/01/2014

Let discover the interview of Junior F., one of the pillars of the graphic studio of Jalis. It returns on what has brought to the web design as well as on the stakes in the visual communication.

How long have you worked at Jalis and what is your function in the Web company?

I came back to Jalis in January, 2011 thus it has been a little more than 3 years when I have been at Jalis. At first, there was still no available post of  web designer, I thus began to SAV. This experience was much more enriching than I would have thought of it. I learnt to understand all the channel of the company and encircle the weak points.

With this analysis, we were able to create  FAQ de Jalis which is now much  used in house and by our customers. I am proud to have contributed to it.

Later, I was finally able to enter the pole graphics and since I created sites.

Before joining Jalis, what was your job?

It is rather funny because it began by accompanying a friend in open doors. He wanted to join an artistic school and Célony high school in Aix offered a training from the second to the directed final year of Decorative arts high school. I had never heard about the training or the school, I have registered without believing too much in it and then at the beginning of the following school year, I began my program in Art.

I have achieved a diploma STI Arts Applied, it is what brought me my artistic culture and that was the beginning of my passion for the graphics. I always liked drawing and it was from the moment when I understood that I could make my job.

Then, I have obtained a BTS visual communication multimedia option in alternation. My company was a printing office which worked in all the media of the business card in the stand of more than 100 m². I learnt the rigor of the composition and the importance of media to communicate.

I then gained a Marketing Multimedia license. This training gave a leg up to me for Web. I created my first sites there and I learnt to find out and collect relevant information on the Web.

Finally, I achieved a Master's degree multimedia Management and during these years in alternation I learnt to form myself, to be autonomous in the Web projects and manage a multimedia project.

Can you describe your current post in a few words?

I am Web Designer, I have created visually sites and tried to accompany most of the customerscommunication. Whether we leave a visual identity and in these cases we adapt to the Web format, or we create from the beginning to the end of the customers’ communication  and in that case we can allow to offer strong proposal which is more enriching and developing for us.

What do you prefer in your work?

The fact that we are in the warm winter and we are in the cool summer (joke)! What I like is that I learn something new every day. Thanks to Internet, I have the impression to be connected to an infinite source of knowledge. To awake the day, let search for the trends of tomorrow, this challenge motivates us to create every day for our customers.

Which Jalis site are you most satisfied with?

It is hard because each site in its stake is necessary to choose one, it would be soniab.fr, which is the site of a creator of wedding dresses and groom suits in Marseille (costumes de marié à Marseille). It is my preference because it is very well performed with quality images. And moreover, it adapts to all the screens up to the mobile, which has asked for quite a lot of preparation work and the tests according to the various media: smart phones, tablets... The stake is to keep the aestheticism and remain the relevant compared with the space available on the screen.

Which site gave you the hardest time and why?

I cannot cite from site to confuse them but generally, the sites which gave me the hardest time were the sites where the customers had no vision on what he wanted to make. When we are in the case like that, necessarily we suffer from many returns because the destination place is not clearly defined from the beginning. In this kind of situations, we are graphic designers, put our caps of project manager and advice in image. We structure with the customer’s request so that he can recognize himself in the image which he conveys in his targets.

The ultimate purpose is the customer’s satisfaction, commitment to the customers every day.

Do you have some advice to give to those who begin in the Web sector?

The future belongs to those who work well. Thanks to Internet, we have access to a quantity of information, trainings and incredible resources.

The elements which will make the difference are the desire to learn, the capacity to find reliable information sources and quality and will always want to be update to the novelties making the future.
