Conquer Web with its contents and capitalize by positioning its domain

12/01/2016

MyJalis presents Paul Nguyen's Editorial, the technical manager of Jalis.

Have a look at Crown on Netflix, a flicker spark: "Duke of Edinburgh" was a noble, more interesting: such a title had to draw its origin from the notion of a land owner. This idea of wealth, is to hold and come from a territory, a domain remained in its name. Today, we would only understand that it is the native of Edinburgh...In fact, after a western conquest and a few centuries, land possession is not so obvious any more. There are more and more people and we have to admit that there will be no place suited to all. There are about seven billion people with 150 million km2 of emerged land, which is about 2 ha/ a person. It seems a lot but a sharing with animals and the flora give us an obvious reality: to enrich the m2 heritage is and will never be easy thing.

The property 2.0

Fault of "unsheathes" in John Wayne, not to take all our dreams, there has been another new El Dorado for a few decades. It is essential to move its horizon on the side of cyberspace and Word Wide Web, the world opened since 1989. The first Internet users and the webmasters were pioneers of Far West digital. In this new territory to bound spaces, we set up domain names to identify and extensions to qualify. The latter includes a category indicating the country, for example, www.jalis.fr identifies a company named Jalis located in France. Another example, www.wikipedia.org is an encyclopedic Web collaborative application, an association (.org).

Besides, a domain name is the property of an individual. Therefore, it can  show property title in this new world. Lately, it was necessary to create new extensions because we are more and more connected, we talk about 40% of the world population. To draw a parallel with our dear Duke, we fall once more towards the same limit: there will be no place for everybody...

The domain name is your new heritage?

But, is a question arisen to possess a domain name similar to the notion of heritage? Domain names reflect mainly companies but less and less. According to their presence in the result of search engines, they invite the Internet users to visit virtually their activities,  philosophy, products and services, based on the contents. The number of meetings is in the quantity quality of positions occupied by pages and ranking. The more often you are among the first ones, the more you will have of visits to your domain.

These indirect meetings on the Web produce naturally an interaction with the reality, potentially trade generator. Remind that the most known extension, the ".com" is regarded as "commercial", a domain name. There is a quantifiable digital capital according to the number of visits. An individual who possesses many domain names, each occupying many first positions, takes numerous visits, exchanges.

This repeated mechanics could bring the independence to the owner of seasonality and trends of audience by developing multiple subjects, being omniscient, drawing from its cultural heritage to share it. The more domain names you possess, the more you cultivate them, the more visible and popular you will be. This conquest of positions and territories make your web sites and the contents beautiful, and your digital heritage as well…

A connected geography

Leaving my Duke of Netflix, I go on Google to have a a little more fun with my reflection. I tried to know where Edinburgh exactly was. I notice unsurprisingly that it has millions of pages and that answers my request best, the search engine star pertinently offers me a map... A zoom of wheel in this part of the United Kingdom and I realize that we mapped naturally by positioning entities, companies with addresses, telephones, images and domain names.

Would Google Maps be a world land registry? Do we have to make distinctions when the virtual interlaces so much with the reality? Especially, objects connect at the same time and the high and low bandwidth networks increase. The people exemplify the digital which infuses itself on walls, possesses objects, control of the machines. The digital heritage will take all the sense when clouds, Web 2.0 will have evaporated in our spirits so that we cannot tread in a connected, unified world. We shall visit in small steps just with a click or a slam.

In this enlarged world, with its new system and properties, we could even imagine a genealogy with paul@nguyen.fr which would be equivalent to Paul Nguyen of France, here is our Duke of Edinburgh... It is an increased reality, a vaster world, sized by dry land and digital data. Our heritage with new definition will be bequeathed, we are in a whole evolution. It is necessary to think about our children of their digital heritage which is being built now.
