Terradona develops in the service of the selective sorting

By entering the capital of Terradona, the Deposit office, an investor of general interest, brings a major economic support and especially an ethical weighty pledge to Terradona. It means that the young provide real alternatives for the waste management.

A company which converts the citizens to the sorting

Terradona reinvents the principle of the instruction version 2.0 by rewarding the sorting manner. For each glass container, the eco-responsible citizen receives convertible points in reductions and purchase vouchers in the partner brands.

But how does it work? Terradona has developed Cliiink, a tool which takes the user a card form without contact or a mobile application. Each individual becomes identified before sorting out to receive gift points in exchange for the waste packages.

The solution developed by Terradona has an ambition to strengthen the sorting gesture. At present, only 44% of citizens are systematic sorters. The principle of reward set up in the solution Cliiink would allow to incite 43 % of non-systematic sorters to act more regularly. The fact of offering reductions to the eco-responsible citizens could even convert 13% of individuals who never sort out, particularly the inhabitants in social housing whose figure soars to 25% and for whom the purchasing power is an essential concern.

The gaining communities with this system of sorting

The local authorities, responsible for the selective sorting and the waste collection, are the first gainers in the development of Terradona. Because Cliiink is involved materially in a housing installed with each recycling bin, which allows them to monitor in a real time the filling level of containers, and thus optimize the rotation of the sorted waste. It is a decisive innovation in this future sector. This solution was finalized by the local start-up in collaboration with a scientific laboratory of CEA of Grenoble, as well as Engineering School of Saint-Etienne.

Furthermore, this case contains a system of materials recognition, which allows concretely the local authorities to definitively get rid of sorting errors which cost 0.75€ per capita every year.

All in all, communities would gain 5€ a year and per capita by resorting to the solution developed by Terradona (waste reduction and recycling increase). Because the sorting of packaging things allows to transform the garbage into raw material to make new consumer goods. For communities, these gains come along the reduction of waste to be burned, and thus savings related to a reduction in the incinerators’ activity. The plan designed by the local start-up really stands out from the competition by its reasonable cost of installation and simplicity of use. It boasts even to be "self-financed". A good chance for local and regional authorities has been given the current budget limitations.

National market and international targets for the local company

The Deposit office is not the first institution to have trusted Terradona. Cliiink has been tested in real situation since 2013 on sorting columns of the urban community of Marseille and the agglomeration community of Pays d'Aix. All in all, the company tests its plan in 70 sorting columns, which corresponds approximately to a population of 40.000 people. Terradona does not plan to stop there and set up a development on a national scale with all the public authorities before 2018. In the future, Terradona promises to establish "European and international targets".
