Nintendo Switch: a small revolution to home consoles

After the immense success of Nintendo DS which knew how to stand out as the portable reference console during a decade, and the Wii which brought a lot of novelties (in particular with the motion detector), Nintendo tries to bounce with a new revolution.

After the resounding failure of Wii U, Japanese mark keeps innovating by inventing a hybrid console, between personal console and home consoles, which can serve for these two uses. Today, it seems to be strange, but in a few years, maybe this versatility will be imperative.

In 2005, in the release of Nintendo DS, the media noticed a console in two screens. At that time, it was an inconceivable innovation. All the more, with one of the two screens which was completely tactile. But this revolutionary model in the sector and Nintendo DS quickly stood out as the queen of portable consoles during a decade. After the DS’s triumph, Nintendo kept innovating by adding over generations a camera, or a 3-dimension image over the console star.

Japanese mark succeeded in reinvesting the market of home consoles with Wii which stood out in the competition in the playful and family aspect. Today, Nintendo takes out a hybrid portable "Switch" middle-console, a home middle-console.

Nintendo Switch consists of a lever and a screen-tablet. This detachable screen allows to change mode easily. The player gathers the lever in a single piece and puts to the screen. The player attaches a part of the lever on each side of the screen. The various components of the console is clicked easily. The hybrid, completely tactile screen, measures 6,2 thumbs. Nintendo keeps publishing game cartridges which look like those of Nintendo DS, when records become preponderant in the video game market.

With such features, Nintendo returns to the fundamental which brought its celebrity: hybrid consoles, four traditional buttons. It appeals the growing public with the consoles of Japanese mark.  To explore a new territory as it had made with Wii, Nintendo chooses to retain those who knew the previous portable consoles of the giant video games.
