Fabien Reynaud's Interview, President of Regional Development in Epitech Marseille

Epitech network is famous for its informatics training. But to what extent can we separate the IT development learning from the imperative constraints of the marketing? Fabien Reynaud, President of Regional Development in Marseille, delivers us its point of view on digital communication.

 
Hello Fabien. First of all, thank you for your interview. Could you present in a few words your job and your role in Epitech?

 

Fabien Reynaud: Hello Benjamin, it is my pleasure to exchange this subject with you. Being awarded a diploma of the College of Business of Grenoble (IAE network), I have always worked in the field of the Digital technology and services. For 5 years my role has been to develop Epitech Marseille's influence on the young people passionate with computing and local companies, join students in the occupational environment and encourage them to offer and create innovative projects.

 
You have trained as future computing engineers. Do they all intend for a purely technical career?

Fabien Reynaud: it was widely true 10 years ago because the technical dimension of Epitech is strong. It is less today because the needs and the students’ profile have been changed. In fact, the digital technology offers a whole pallet of application fields with the establishment of what today we call SMAC (Social, Mobility, Analytic, Cloud) which is the axis of major development of the sector. Besides, the students who attend our school are Digital Natives: they grew up with Digital technology, they use naturally the means of communication 2.0, in a culture of mobility and division. Finally, Epitech accompanies them with the 4th International year in one of 40 partner universities, Marketing sciences from the third year and the innovative dimension of our pedagogy in project. Annually we notice a high rate of new business start-ups from the school release with 12 % of graduate students. If we add those who work in the E-commerce one, it’s accounted for 1 graduate from 3 who works with a strong customer dimension.

Today, on behalf of your students, are you feeling a particular demand on all which concerns the digital communication and the e-marketing?

Fabien Reynaud: Yes clearly from the 3rd year, most of students have already seen the importance to adapt themselves to the user or customer during their internship. So, they have more perspective to understand the Technology - Digital Communication relation.

You were present in the display party of the book Digitize your mark. What conclusions do you draw?

Fabien Reynaud: The first is education, if you invite me again I shall return gladly. It is revealing to say that your hairdresser will have a digital strategy in one day because now the technologies and practices are developed. We are at the dawn of the real revolution in the marketing domain. In fact, the consumer took the power, that redistributes maps, it is requiring and giving many opportunities. Including TPE (Very Small companies) there are few barriers to entry in the Digital communication. In the condition of reflecting about a strategy with precise and measurable objectives thanks to new powerful tools. The reassuring side is because the fundamental remain the same. Your store is on the Internet: how to find it? Which jobs are in the store? How to share the satisfaction of your customers? How do the tools of analysis allow to give custom-made offers to my clients.

The subject is fascinating, in synthesis, I would say: the digital marketing is ready and you?
