SI, an activity, a term which can seem dark for a lot of people. What is S.I? IT service? Computer system? No, it is simply information systems and Alexis C., the manager of Information Systems to the Web company (agence web) Jalis, is going to clarify a little about this.
How long have you worked at Jalis and what is your function in the Web company?
In December, 2008, I joined Jalis as a developer where my main task was the development of web sites and their maintenance. Then in June, 2011, I took a charge of tourist information office, in a small team, to assure the relation with people receiving benefits of accommodation, the evolution of the internal tools and the maintenance of the computer equipment.
Before joining Jalis, what was your job?
Very early attracted by new technologies, I’ve been directed to S.T.I. bachelor degree, pursuing a B.T.S. Commercial computing (developer option) and a school of management in computing.
Could you describe in a few words your current job?
My work mainly consists of creating necessary tools for the constant evolution of the company and the products which it proposes to customers. At second time, the S.I. service assures the relation with people receiving benefits of accommodation, the evolution of internal tools and the maintenance of the computer equipment.
Furthermore, I take a charge in attending meetings of making decisions on the choice of the company’s objectives.
What do you prefer in your work?
What I like in the S.I. service working is the mixture between the technical aspects (maintenance servers, deployments of tools) and human relations (relations of people receiving benefits, in the center of all the services). We could translate that by "sociable Geekage ".
Which Jalis site are you most satisfied with?
Not necessarily, the most attractive but undoubtedly the most useful for our customers: FAQ Jalis. The advantage is to guide the customer while making him independent, self-trained on technical aspects.
Which site gave you most hardest time and why?
At first, I would say: sodit.fr. In fact, this site is developed with a technology which raises some problems for our servers. Everything is under control, but it is true which I would like to see it tipping over on the PHP.
Would you have some advice to be given to those who begin in the Web sector?
I think that WEB sector, as all different sector of the new technologies in the world, is above all the passion. I really learnt everything in auto-training and I just shall give the following advice: be curious, make tutorials and never loose courage.
