Fred Nowak, a professional photographer, has been approved for the realization of the virtual visits posted in Local Google. This creator of images has made gracefully, for Jalis, to the set of questions/answers. With this interview, Fred Nowak reveals the wings of his job: discover the look that concerns the photographer profession in 2014, and its vision on the role of the image in the current digital communication.
It is rare to make its living with the passion, and your job often allows to ally both. Have you exercised other activities before becoming a professional photographer?
In fact, I have never believed it was simple to live on our passions! As for me I was always a lover of the image and I have quickly allied the photo to the video; I thus have a training of professional cameraman which allowed me to work several years on television. I began the TV OM in Marseille, then I had the opportunity to join national production teams in Paris for channels like Public Senate, TF1, France 2, France 3, M6... I have filmed so different people as senators or candidates of the Island of the Temptation! I had the opportunity to travel a lot thanks to this job and meet great people... It is I believe the common point with my activity of current photographer: the meetings, and it is what pleases me.
We used your services to realize the virtual visit of Jalis premises. How did you become a photographer approved Google? And what places of the virtual visits do they occupy in your daily life today?
My activity of photographer approved Google is an additional string in my bow (in sky!) that I obtained 2 years ago after having taken the Google tests and been selected for the realization of Google Virtual Visits with the professionals of the Country of Aix. Today being called "Google Business View", these virtual visits are an incredible communications tool for the storekeepers and other companies which require to show their premises to their clientele on the busiest virtual avenue of the world! This activity is more and more fascinating because it benefits from an excellent image and the spontaneous increasing demands. It represents approximately 40 % of my activity. Thanks to Jalis for having trusted me and confided me of the realization of Google virtual visit, and I hope that we can pursue a collaboration for the company customers.
What role plays is the image in communication on the Internet? Do you think that quality images, in high definition, are essential for a high-quality web site today?
Of course! It is little as when we pass in front of a restaurant in the street, when its sign is broken, when its card is not lit or the shop window is damaged ... We do not want to enter, and strangely, even if this restaurant offers an excellent kitchen, we leave with a prejudice. The Web visibility is not self-sufficient. If a company included the importance to have a web site to offer a shop window to customers, the shop window should be beautiful, modern and effective. Photos in high definition, quality and professional are a minimum to have for its communication mediums whatever they are.
How do you perceive Internet for the future of photographer's job?
As an enormous chance, it will be necessary to take the turning point and not to be allowed to overtake like that during the passage from the analogue to the digital technology! It is especially necessary that, we, Professional Photographers, manage to prove that the pro photo is not accessible to all, even when we have a magnificent device. The practice, the sensibility, the perception and the technique make the difference. I try to be aware of the new technologies and the new supports provided us to assert our job, but I admit that everything goes very fast today! The main part remains to take and give some pleasure through an image... Let not lose sight of it!
